The Manhattan Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

The Manhattan Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy provides psychological services for people affected by depression, anxiety, and other conditions.  Our offices are located in midtown Manhattan.  Cognitive-behavioral therapy, or CBT, focuses on ways in which your thoughts and actions can contribute to problems – and on how you can address these problems by thinking a little differently and perhaps acting a little differently.

CBT has been demonstrated to be an effective means of treating various psychological problems such as depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, insomnia, anxiety and panic attacks.  Research studies typically show CBT to be about as effective as medication for these conditions – sometimes more effective, sometimes less.  However, unlike with medication, the skills you learn in CBT stay with you after the end of treatment.  And, of course, there are no potential adverse side effects of CBT as there are with most medications.
