Free support group services for nurses during the NYC COVID-19 outbreak

April 8, 2020 by Dr. Paul Greene

--

UPDATE, OCTOBER 2020: The nurses’ support group is currently suspended due to the improvement in statewide COVID control efforts. Should that change this group may re-start.

The current health crisis in NYC is testing hospital healthcare providers like never before. During the COVID-19 crisis, the Manhattan Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is offering free support group services specifically for nurses in the New York City area whose work has been affected by COVID-19.

The ongoing struggle against the novel coronavirus has affected all of us. Many nurses and other frontline medical professionals have been put in situations they didn’t feel prepared for, in some ways. For those that work in hospitals, the emotional impact of helping a major influx of seriously ill patients — with no assurance you would be safe from the disease yourself — has been a strain. For those that work in nursing homes, caring for the infirm knowing the extreme risks can feel traumatizing in a different way.

The support groups are run by licensed doctoral-level psychologists, and are conducted via videoconferencing. If you or a nurse colleague are interested, please e-mail info@manhattanCBT.com or call at 646-863-4225.
